What’s the best way to baseline a schedule?
How do you change the date format which shows in the schedule?

Hi,

You can save the Project Schedule as a Template and recreate it in a separate Area or simply save it in a library for reference. You can also export a Project Schedule back into MS Project to Baseline it, however you may lose some customized fields.

In order to change the Regional Settings for a Project, Select SIte Actions, Site Settings, then Regional Settings under (Site Administration).

Another approach to Baselining a Project is as follows:

To create a Baseline:
1. First setup a sub-project under the current project appropriately named – base it on the Blank template.
2. In the Project Statement set the Status to Complete and/or the Exclude from Reports to Yes (this stops the data being reported upon)

Next:
1. Save a Project Schedule to be Baselined as a List Template
2. In the sub-project create the saved list and name it (generally I would include the date in the name)
3. Recalculate the schedule (and ensure it matches the current)
a. It might also be useful to update the Project Schedule Summary items title)
4. Go back to the Site List Template Gallery and delete the list template as you do not need it anymore

NOTE: Lookups to other lists will no longer work e.g. Owner Role. It does retain Owner and Assigned To assignments.
